The Glass House

Omid Rouhani was appointed to design a B+G+1+Loft custom home on the world acclaimed Palm Jumeriah. A man-made Island in the shape of a palm of the coast of Dubai. The water-frontsite is located on J frond overlooking the Atlantis Hotel. The house is designed to accommodate the views by slightly rotating the upper floors on its axis and its all=glass façade. Upon entering through the full height central pivot door you enter into to triple height atrium space that accommodates a glass panoramic elevator over looking the sea and city view through the triple height full opening glass wall.

The first floor glazing is shaded by an automated shading devise that adjusts itself based on the season and the time of day. This system will be the first of its kind in this region. The basement parking is also naturally cooled by the shade provided by a series of hanging trees. The stark contrast between the all natural flame finished black absolute granite on the ground floor façade against the very smooth, white clean lines of the first floor has created an elegant architectural language. The constant changing façade due to the automated shading system and the shadow it creates is another layer of interest to this custom-made home.

The private loft of the master bedroom and the double height dining room both enjoy a remarkable indoor and outdoor experience due to its automated full opening double height glazing system.
