The “Antiquity”, an international archeological journal published a co-authored paper titled “Wind-towers and the pearl fishing: architectural signals in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century Arabian Gulf”. The paper was co-written by Ronald Hawker, Daniel Hull and myself. In this paper we made an intriguing link between pearl diving and the wind-towers which provided air-conditioning to the luxury apartments of the successful merchants of the Arabian Gulf.
